When to Call 911

You should use the 911 emergency phone number when ever you see or Call 911 Emergencyexperience the following:

Crime in Progress - Suspicious Activity

  • Person pointing a weapon at someone, or children with weapons
  • Suspicious physical activity you believe is related to a criminal activity
  • Violent physical activity you believe is related to a criminal activity

Life or Safety Problems

  • Smell of gas or electrical short, something burning
  • Smell of fire or something burning
  • In need of medical help, ambulance, paramedic, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), due to medical emergency
  • Vicious, uncontained, animals displaying a behavior that could be dangerous to children, elderly, or the general public

When to Not Call 911

Do not use the 911 emergency number for the following:

  • For Road condition or Weather information
  • To report loose, uncontained animals, unless they display the behavior as indicate
  • To request a report or information related to an already completed report
