Street Maintenance Division

The Street Maintenance Division manages the repair and maintenance of existing roadway and drainage infrastructure.

Standard Maintenance Activities

The following activities are provided for 262 lane miles of streets:

  • Crack Sealing
  • Curb Repair
  • Drainage Repair
  • The entire City twice per month
  • Pavement Marking
  • Pot Hole Patching
  • Shoulder Work
  • Sidewalk Repair
  • Sign Maintenance
  • Stop Bars
  • Street Resurfacing
  • Street Sweeping
  • Striping

To report a pothole or request other maintenance work within the Street SweeperCity of Ridgecrest email Street Maintenance Division Leader Les Wood or call the department at 760-499-5083.

Maintenance responsibility of State Highway 178 or Business 395 which includes; Inyokern Road; China Lake Boulevard north of Ridgecrest Boulevard and Ridgecrest Boulevard east of China Lake Boulevard belong to Caltrans. Caltrans’ maintenance facility for Desert Mix applied to Upjohn Avenueour area is located in Inyokern and can be reached at 760-377-4300.

Responsibilities

Maintenance responsibilities for most roads outside the city limits to the north, west and south belong to Kern County. Their maintenance facility is located in Inyokern and can be reached at 661-862-5181.

The City is not responsible for roads outside the city limits to the east (past County Line Road). These fall within San Bernardino County but are not maintained by the County. Report a Non-Functioning Street Light

Street light outages Citywide, except along Ridgecrest Boulevard, should be reported to Southern California Edison website. Street light outages along Ridgecrest Boulevard between China Lake Boulevard and Norma Street can be reported by calling our office at 760-499-5083 or 760-499-5087.
