The City of Ridgecrest is proud to announce the launching of its new transit system the Deviated Flex Route ridgerunner transit system. The system combines the benefits of traditional fixed route service and demand response service for Functional Needs qualified passengers.
The bus follows a defined route, picking up and dropping off passengers at designated stops. The bus will also “deviate off its route within a three quarter (3/4) of a mile of its usual route when a Transit Functional Need Passenger has been identified and an advance reservation has been made.
For our Residents in the Kern County area (Inyokern and Randsburg), the bus service will remain the same except for adding additional fixed route stops.
Once you have met your Transit Functional Needs qualifications and you need to set up your deviation service, those requests may be made Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 12:00pm and 1:00 pm though 3:00 pm by calling 760-499-5040. These requests need to be made on the preceding business day that your service is being requested.
If you believe that you are in need of a deviation service, you must fill out our Transit Functional Needs paperwork. This paperwork, helps us evaluate your transit needs to determine the best possible way for you to use our transit system.

ridgerunner transit together with Kern Regional Transit is operating an intercity public transit service between Ridgecrest through California City to Mojave. The Inyo-Mono County bus service now connects with the Kern Regional Transit System in Ridgecrest.
