The mission of the Citizen’s Police Academy is to educate the citizens of Ridgecrest by providing them with an inside look at Ridgecrest Police Department operations; to enable the Police Department to remain responsive to the needs of our community and to continue the delivery of quality police services to our community.
- be at least 18 years of age
- live or work in the IWV
- have no prior felony convictions
- have had no serious misdemeanor convictions in the last 5 years.
Note: There are no minimum physical requirements to participate in the Citizens Police Academy. Students will not be required to take part in any activities that they are physically unable to perform.
The Citizens Police Academy course is nine weeks. Classes are held on Thursday nights from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Kerr McGee Center. Classes start the first week of August.
